Magis 2016 Poland

The 2016 Magis event took place in Poland where it connected to the 2016 World Youth Day in Kraków. Around 2000 participants from all over the world gathered to the heart of Europe to immerse deeper in Ignatian spirituality and prepare for the WYD.

Before the experiments begun, participants were invited to a kickoff meeting in Łódź from 15 to 17 July 2016. On the 16th the Holy Mass was celebrated by the assistant of the Superior General of the Jesuit Order, Fr. Tomasz Kot SJ. The Ignatian Youth was sent to the experiments with a video message and a blessing from the Fr. General, Adolfo Nicolás SJ.

The experiments took place in four countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania besides Poland) from 17 to 23 July. Experiments of various characters served to connect participants to the central theme of Magis 2016: to give and not count the cost.

The closure of the experiments arrived with a pilgrimage on July 23 to Our Lady of Częstochowa, where experimenters could express their gratitude for all the gifts of the previous days and reflect upon the fruits.

The Closing Festival (23-25 July) served as a recreational period after the experiments and also a preparation for the WYD in Kraków afterwards. You can catch a glimpse of these days in this video:
